Can Family-friendly Policies Boost Young Professional Women's Intention to Have Children?
Based on the online survey data of 3764 young professional women aged 20-35 in 2022,this study uses the Reunion Impact Function(RIF)regression to examine the influence of family-friendly policies on young professional women's fertility intention and its mechanism,as well as to investigate the heterogeneity of the influence of different groups.It is found that family-friendly policies can significantly enhance the fertility intention of young vocational women,and enterprise-supported policies has the greatest impact.Furthermore,the coefficient of the family-friendly policy increases with the increase in subsites,but the significance of different subsites is different.Relieving the work-family conflict is the main mechanism that the current family-friendly policy affects the fertility intention of young professional women,while the influence of promoting gender equality is relatively weak.In addition,vocational skills training can moderate the impacts of family-friendly policies on young professional women's fertility intentions.To further release the reproductive potential of young professional women and promote the long-term balanced development of population,it is necessary to improve public policies such as economic support policies,maternity protection for employees,childcare leave policies and childcare service systems.
