Research on the relationship between language and civilization can be approached from micro and macro perspectives. The micro perspective focuses on its interaction with linguistic systems and their use on the one hand, and with civilization on the other, while the macro perspective emphasizes the historical and cultural structures connecting language and civilization.By examining their relationship from three aspects-language civilization as an integral part of human civilization, the influence of language on the progress of civilization, and the impact of civilizational processes on language develop-ment,the following conclusions can be drawn:1)there is a co-evolution of social psychology and institutions, with language being coupled with subcategories of civilization such as thought, cognition, political forms, communities, and history;2)language profoundly influences civilization in areas such as its origins, evolution, cognitive and ideological systems, group formation, identity, institutional frameworks, and governance;3)the development of civilization impacts language systems, their use and dissemination,as well as language governance and planning.Enhancing research and understanding of the relationship between language and civilization will contribute to the advancement of our language enterprise, supporting the construction of a culturally strong nation and the modernization of Chinese civilization.
