Influence of temperature and pressure fluctuations on gasket stress in bolted flange connection systems
The relaxation of gasket stresses in bolted flange connection systems, induced by temperature fluctuations, can subsequently affect their sealing performance. This paper focuses on DN80 flange joints, utilizing ABAQUS software to analyze the variation of gasket stresses induced by temperature fluctuations. The study investigates the mechanisms governing gasket and bolt load changes. The findings reveal that the bolted flange connection system exhibits a certain temperature lag phenomenon during temperature variations. When temperature fluctuates, gasket stresses decrease with declining temperature and increase with rising temperature.Following the temperature fluctuations, the gasket exhibits a stress distribution pattern known as"inner tightening and outer loosening".During this process, gasket thermal expansion and the hysteresis of the temperature field play a pivotal role in gasket stress variations. The research results provide valuable insights and support for the further optimization and improvement of bolted flange connection systems.
