An Analysis of Formation and Development of Urban System in Xiangshan County during Ming and Qing Dynasties
The Ming and Qing dynasties are a very important period in the development history of China's urban system.Xiangshan County is one of central cities in the Pearl River Delta region.The formation of its urban system in the Ming and Qing dynasties was a process of development and evolution with obvious characteristics of stages,experiencing continuous improvement of its market spatial layout.It not only shows differences in time sequence,but also reflects structural variation.During the Ming and Qing dynasties,Xiangshan County had formed a three-level urban system consisting of a county town(first level town),a central town(second level town),and a rural market(third level town),as well as two major market circles centered around Xiangshan County.
