A Review and Evaluation of Adaptation and Performance of the Mid-length Pingtan Liu Hulan
The adaptation and performance of Liu Hulan,a mid-length Pingtan(storytelling and ballad singing in Suzhou dialect)was initiated with political instructions commemorating the party's birthday and expanded due to actual demands for creation in a new movement of speaking and singing. It has been continuously refined, through practical experiences on the market stage, which serves the working class. The final version of the script is dedicated to promoting the spirit of heroic martyrs. This work mainly tells the story of Liu Hulan's unwavering revolutionary beliefs, her dedication to serving the revolutionary masses, and her lifelong commitment to the revolution. It positively publicizes the necessary political education, inspiriting revolutionary prospect and correct leadership of the Communist Party of China. As a masterpiece of a mid-length performance form in the Shanghai Pingtan Troupe, this work went through a difficult process of six major revisions over three years. This process not only demonstrates the pursuit of excellence by a state-owned theater troupe but also reflects the reality of political movements. It aims to achieve a unified ideological understanding, consistent discourse, and correct class positions.
