Remote Sensing Monitoring in Rongbuk Glacier From 2004 to 2022 and Its Change Analysis
In response to the lack of research on glacier evolution and motion monitoring in the Rongbuk Glac-ier region, focused on the past 20 years, using Landsat series images, digital elevation model(DEM),and other da-ta,the information on Rongbuk Glacier from 2004 to 2022 was extracted. The distribution of glacier area and changes in ice streams under different landforms in the watershed in recent years were studied. The results showed that:1)From 2004 to 2022,the watershed area of Rongbuk Glacier decreased by 5.76%.After 2010,the glacier area changed dramatically, showing a significant downward trend, and then increased rapidly, increasing by 10.81 km2 within four years.2)From the perspective of spatial distribution, the overall fragmentation of the glacier distribution in the Rongbuk Glacier had intensified in the past 20 years, with the glacier showing a southward trend. The glaciers in the middle had a certain degree of attenuation, while the fragmentation degree in the south had improved.3)The glacier on the north slope in the study area was relatively stable, while the glacier on the south slope had significant changes in attenuation and recovery. The glaciers in the study area was mainly distributed in areas with slopes of 5° to 25°,and the distribution of glaciers with slopes greater than 5° gradually decreased with the increase of slopes.
