Gas-water distribution characteristics and main controlling factors of tight sandstone gas reservoir in the second Member of Xujiahe Formation in Xinchang area, western Sichuan
The gas-water relationship of tight sandstone gas reservoir is complex. In order to clarify the main controlling factors of gas-water distribution in the second Member of Xujiahe Formation in Xinchang area, western Sichuan, the macroscopic characteristics of formation water was explored by means of test production data, mercury pressure curve and rock thin section analysis, and the main controlling factors of gas-water distribution in this area was clarified. The results show that the reservoir in Xu 2 Member of Xinchang area is tight, with poor pore throat connectivity, and the gas-water distribution is complicated by the tight reservoir. The Xu 2 Member gas reservoir is generally characterized by upper gas and lower water, but the phenomenon of gas-water inversion is common. The gas and water distribution in the study area is controlled by structural evolution, the configuration relationship of sandstone and mudstone facies, the superposition pattern of river channels and the diagenetic differences within single sand bodies. The multi-stage structural evolution process controls the macroscopic scale pattern of gas-water distribution, the superposition of different types of river channels and the configuration of sand and mud affect the gas water distribution at the sand body scale. The vertically-separated type superposition relationship between thick layers and thin layers and the interbedded configuration relationship between sand and mud layers are conducive to the formation of gas layers. The diagenetic differences within a single sand body affect the gas-water distribution at the single sand body internal scale. The research results on the main controlling factors of gas and water in the research area can effectively guide the exploration and development of Xu 2 Member gas reservoir in Xinchang area.
