Preparation and performance evaluation of betaine-type hydrophobic association gelling agent
At present, the main additive(gelling agent)used in acid fracturing of carbonate rock is failing to meet the needs of reservoir stimulation. To address the problem,a betaine-type hydrophobic monomer TSM-16 containing sulfonate acid ion and quaternary ammonium salt was prepared in dichloromethane solvent by the two-step method using sodium N-methyltaurate,allyl chloride, palmitoyl chloride and triethylamine as raw materials.A new type of gelling agent PAT was synthesized from TSM-16 and acrylamide(AM)by free radical aqueous solution polymerization. The comprehensive properties of PAT were compared with those of the conventional gelling agent PAA.The results showed that compared with PAA,PAT showed better acid stability, thermal stability, shear stability and retardative property in acid solution due to its hydrophobic chain segment and zwitterionic groups, having a good application prospect in the field of acid fracturing.
