Geological characteristics, formation and evolution of Sikeshu Depression and its surrounding in Junggar Basin
The Sikeshu Depression of the Junggar Basin is rich in oil and gas resources. In 2019,a single well in the Cretaceous of Gaoquan East anticline was able to produce 1000 m3 high oil flow per day, confirming that the depression has great exploration potential. In order to reveal the characteristics and development mechanism of the reservoir control structure of Sikeshu Depression, the field outcrop measurement, seismic data interpretation and balanced profile recovery in the covered area were carried out,and the geological characteristics and formation and evolution of Sikeshu Depression and its periphery were systematically studied. The results show that:three rows of folds and related faults are mainly developed in the outcrop area of Sikeshu Depression, and the structural style of the second row is more complex. The three rows of structures converge on the east side and spread on the west side, showing a broom-shaped distribution from east to west.In the coverage area, deep compressional thrust, middle compressional strike-slip and shallow compressional slip superimposed structural systems are mainly developed. It has experienced three evolutionary stages:Indochinese,Yanshan and Himalayan period. The pre-mountain deformation of Sikeshu Depression is strong, and the displacement of the fault to the basin is reduced, and the difference of structural deformation between north and south is obvious. The formation and evolution of the depression are controlled by the special structural location, complex structural stress and multi-stage structural activities. The research results are of great significance for clarifying the structural evolution of Sikeshu Depression and guiding the oil and gas exploration in the study area.
