Characteristics of segmented differential activity of Shunbei No.1 strike-slip fault zone and its effect on reservoir control
In recent years, many large strike-slip fault zones on the north slope of Tazhong have become the focus of oil and gas exploration and development in Tarim Basin.Based on the detailed interpretation of 3D seismic data of Shunbei No.1 strike-slip fault zone, the paper discusses the differential activity characteristics and reservoir control effects of Shunbei No.1 strike-slip fault zone by combining previous research results and oil and gas exploration practice. The study shows that:(1)Shunbei No.1 strike-slip fault zone mainly develops in the Lower Paleozoic and is a large left-strike-slip fault zone with stratified plane distribution, presenting linear distribution in the lower Paleozoic and en echelon distribution in the upper Paleozoic.(2)Shunbei No.1 strike-slip fault zone has obvious segmented differential activity characteristics, and the study area can be divided into three types of 12 segments, such as tension-torsion,compression-torsion and pure strike-slip.(3)The Shunbei No.1 strike-slip fault zone has undergone multiple stages of tectonic evolution, among which, the middle Caledonian Ⅰ,middle Caledonian Ⅲ,late Caledonian to early Hercynian are the key active periods of Shunbei No.1 strike-slip fault zone, and then the deep buried stage is relatively stable with weak fault activity.(4)The Shunbei No.1 strike-slip fault zone connects the Cambrian high quality source rock with favorable reservoir of Ordovician. The segmented differential activities of the fault zone result in significant differences in the development degree of fault-karst bodies and reservoir scale in different fault segments. The drilling data indicate that the degree of oil and gas enrichment is high in tensional-torsional and compressive-torsional segments, but relatively low in the pure strike-slip segment. In addition, the intersection of main fault and branch fault usually has high yield, which suggests that the scale and activity of branch fault control the degree of oil and gas enrichment.
