The impact of Ride-Hailing on Ridership of Traditional Taxis:An Empirical Analysis Based on Cities in Guangdong
Based on a sample of 21 cities in Guangdong Province,collect balanced panel data from 2010 to 2016,and uses continuous difference-in-differences method(continuous DID)to explore the cause and effect of ride-hailing on the ridership of traditional taxis,and conducts a series of robustness test.The research results show that:①Ride-hailing has a significant negative impact on the ridership of traditional taxis;②Further analysis shows that this negative impact is more serious in the"Pearl River Delta Region"cities.This result indicates that the impact of ride-hailing on the ridership of traditional taxis in the city is heterogeneous in the"Pearl River Delta Region"and non-"Pearl River Delta Region".The above results show that in Guangdong cities,it is necessary to carry out ride-hailing governance,and this kind of governance is more urgent in cities in the"Pearl River Delta Region";Traditional taxi operators need to make reforms and innovations to seeking long-term development of the industry.
