Digital Economy,Foreign Direct Investment, and Industrial Structure Transformation and Upgrading
The digital economy utilizes new technologies and uses knowledge and information as production factors to continuously promote industrial structure transformation and upgrading, economic structure optimization, technological transformation, and production efficiency improvement. The study introduces foreign direct investment as an intermediary variable, based on data from 31 provinces and regions in China from 2013 to 2021,to explore the impact and mechanism of the development level of the digital economy on the upgrading and rationalization of industrial structure.Through empirical research, significant impacts and partial mediating effects were found. At the same time, through analysis of regional heterogeneity and threshold effects,it was found that the mediating effect has significant regional heterogeneity and conforms to the single threshold effect.Through robustness testing,it was found that lag effects exist and have different impacts on industrial structure.
