Phytoplankton diversity in Taizi River tributary in Liao River
This paper represents the investigation on phytoplankton in Taizi River watershed from May to August of 2009. The results showed that the phytoplankton was dominated by diatoms, green algae and blue-green algae. 195 species of phytoplankton were identified, including 97 species of diatoms, 55 species of green algae and 25 species of blue-green algae. The diatoms were the most important species, followed by green algae and blue algae in 2009. The cell densities of phytoplankton were found to be reduced quickly from May to August of 2009. However, the cell densities of blue algae were increased from 7% to 17%. Meanwhile, two kinds of diversity index were analyzed and compared in different regions of Taizi River tributary. There were significant differences in phytoplankton diversity, indicating that the diversity index was found less in the upstream than that in the downstream.
