Analysis of relative germplasm characteristics of Chinese mitten crab(Eriocheir sinensis)with two carapace colors
In order to evaluate the germplasm differences between Chinese mitten crab(Eriocheir sinensis)with white-carapace and normal green-carapace,the differences in morphological characters, growth, coloration and di-gestive enzyme activities were analyzed between adult white-carapace crab with body weight of 17.5 g±1.9 g and green-carapace crab with body weight of 17.9 g±2.3 g cultured in the same polycultured pond with silver carp(Hy-pophthalmichthys molitrix),and bighead carp(Aristichthys nobilis)and covered by about 40%of aquatic plant Elo-phyllum vulgaris by morphological multivariate analyses and biochemical analyses. The results showed that there was obviously lower survival rate in white-carapace crab(40.69%)than that in green-carapace crab(67.55%),with-out significant differences in mean body weight, conditional factor,hepatopancreas-somatic index and gonado-so-matic index(P>0.05).Only 10 significantly different parameters were observed between white-carapace crab and green-carapace crab among the 31 morphological proportional trait parameters.Cluster analysis and principal compo-nent analysis revealed that the morphological differences were not obvious between the two crab groups, with signifi-cantly higher coloration parameter values(L*,a*and b*)in the white-carapace crab than those in green-carapace crab(P<0.05).The total carotenoid contents in carapace, hemolymph and hepatopancreas were found to be signif-icantly lower in white-carapace crab than those in green-carapace crab(P<0.05).The total carotenoid content in the intestinal tissues with contents was significantly higher in white-carapace crab than in green-carapace crab(P<0.05),without significant difference in the intestinal tissues without contents and in total protein content(TP),and trypsin(TRY),lipase(LPS)and amylase(AMS)activities in hepatopancreas and intestine tissues between white-carapace crab and green-carapace crab(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in relative growth, morphological and physiological traits between white-carapace crab and green-carapace crab, except for obviously low survival rate in white-carapace crab.It was supposed that carotenoids in the intestines of white-carapace crab would not be effectively absorbed and transported to the carapace, and then cause white-carapace in Chinese mitten crab.
