Preliminary exploration of spatial structure of residents'online life based on the mobile App usage data:A case study of Wuhan metropolitan development area
In the information age,the lives of residents are gradually shifting to online.Existing studies have shown that online life has promoted the reconstruction of living spaces. However, its spatial structure and causes still need to be studied systematically. In view of this, this article selects eight categories of online life closely related to residents'daily life.Based on the mobile App usage data of Wuhan Unicom users, the two indicators:the proportion of users and the average usage time are calculated in regular grids,so as to construct the comprehensive usage index of eight types of online life. Then, using cold-and-hot-spot analysis and hierarchical clustering methods, the spatial structure of Wuhan residents'online life was preliminarily explored. We find that there are many differences between online life and traditional life:(1)In terms of popularity and use intensity, except for food delivery, the other seven categories follow the anti-central law of high-value index and hot spots mostly distributed in the suburbs, and some activities also show the characteristics of pan-centralization.(2)The number of popular activities in the periphery of the central urban area is more than that in the core area, and online and offline combined activities are in the majority. There are a large number of popular activities in the core area of suburban area, and these online activities develop in a relatively balanced way.The number of popular activities in the periphery of suburban area is small, and most of them are completely online.(3)According to the above characteristics, the online living space of residents presents a circular sector mosaic structure in the form of"crater".Online life makes up for the deficiency of traditional living facilities in the suburbs,so it presents an increasing law of anti-central circle complementary to traditional life.At the same time, the differences of online life under the influence of geographical location, construction conditions, population composition and the other factors make different groups of people inlaid in the shape of fan-shaped areas. This paper supplements the traditional residents'living space theory from the perspective of online life, summarizes the spatial structure of residents'online life systematically, and provides reference for the construction of urban living space in the information age.
