Search on the estimation method and applications of carbon sink in marine fisheries:Take the Bohai Rim Region as an example
Scientific assessment of the carbon sequestration capacity of marine fisheries is the basis for promoting the green and efficient development of marine economy under the goal of carbon neutrality.Based on Sentinel-2 remote sensing images,we used the Support Vector Machine classification method to classify and extract the floating raft culture area, cage culture area, tidal flat culture area and pond culture area of the Bohai Rim Region(BRR).Based on the results of the extraction,we developed a new model for assessing the carbon sink of mariculture fisheries, and measured the carbon sequestration potential of culture and the contribution of different types of culture zones to the fisheries carbon sink in the study area. The results are as follows:(1)The carbon sequestration potential of inshore aquaculture can reach up to 1.34 106-1.68·106 tons per year. The total carbon sequestration potential of tidal flat aquaculture is the largest, accounting for about 42%of the BRR's total, the floating raft culture area, pond culture area and cage culture area accounted for 29%,28%and 1%respectively;In terms of carbon sequestration potential per unit area, the floating raft culture zone has the strongest potential, which is about 1.4-1.7 times of the other three types of culture zones.(2)The coastal fisheries are mainly concentrated in the eastern part of Shandong, southern Liaoning and the mouth of the Yellow River.Eastern Shandong has the largest carbon sequestration potential, accounting for about 28%of the BRR's total, could be a key area for the development of carbon sequestration fisheries around the Bohai Sea.This study can also provide technical support for the carbon sequestration accounting of marine industry in China, and for the development of carbon sequestration fisheries in the country.
