Endometriosis (EMs) is a chronic, inflammatory, hormone-dependent disease whose pathogenesis has not been fully elucidated.Ferroptosis is a novel form of non-apoptotic cell death characterized by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation and membrane damage. In recent years, an increasing number of studies have shown a close relationship between ferroptosis and EMs.In this article, the bidirectional role of ferroptosis in EMs and its relationship with iron overload, inflammation and fibrosis will be reviewed. Finally, the mechanisms of ferroptosis in EMs-associated infertility will be summarized.
