A Retrospect of 2023 and Looking Ahead to 2024 in Brunei
In 2023,Brunei continued to maintain political stability and social harmony.Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah approved the appointment of a new session of parliamentary members.The government's civil servant selection has become more transparent and accountability has been strengthened.The recruitment process is the responsibility of each department.Brunei began imple-menting the National Retirement Scheme(SPK)to enhance social welfare and security for its citizens after retirement.Religious subjects were integrated into Bruneii's national general education system,leading to a more pronounced religious atmosphere.Bru-nei's economy has gradually recovered with growth.The government has supported micro,small and medium enterprises,and en-couraged the development of agriculture and fisheries to promote sustainable growth of the national economy.Brunei pursued di-versified diplomacy,and the Sultan made frequent visits to different regions and countries and actively participated in regional and international affairs.In 2024,Brunei will continue to strengthen government institutional reforms and management,enhance government efficiency and maintainits long-term stability.It will continue to promote economic diversification,and vigorously support the development of non-oil and gas sectors such as agriculture and fisheries,driving sustainable economic development.Brunei will maintain its friendly diplomatic policy,adhere to the fundamental principles of ASEAN diplomacy and maintain friendly relations with countries worldwide to enhance Brunei's reginal and international influence.
