Development Trends of Trade Issues in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity and Its Impacts on Asia-Pacific Regional Cooperation
The Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity(IPEF)is the cornerstone of the U.S.Indo-Pacific strategy in the field of economy and trade.Since the official proposal by U.S.President Biden at the East Asia Summit in October 2021,the IPEF process has been rapidly advancing, particularly with negotiations on the four pillars of"Connected Economy(I),Resilient Economy(Ⅱ),Clean Economy(Ⅲ),and Fair Economy(IV)".Although IPEF is not a traditional free trade agreement, its content on economic and trade issues is becoming increasingly specific, and new trends are emerging. In the paper,a comparative research method is adopted to compare IPEF with TPP,RCEP,and other Asia-Pacific regional cooperation and trade issues, and is believed that IPEF trade issues are strategic and forward-looking.In addition, the analysis is conducted on their impact on Asia-Pacific re-gional cooperation, which may change the regional cooperation mechanism formed in the Asia-Pacific region since 1960s.To mitigate the negative impact of IPEF on China,China should deepen reforms, expand openness, and promote innovation in the Asia-Pacific regional cooperation mechanism and trade issues, deepening Asia-Pacific regional cooperation.
