Industrial Chain Integration Between China and Thailand:Trends,Drivers and Promotion Strategies
Global industrial supply chains remain fragile and continue to be reconstructed at the current stage.How to re-shape stable industrial chains in the new era has become a major test for various countries.While some countries are reshaping their industrial chains with the orientation of securitization,internalization and unilateralism,China and Thailand,staunch support-ers and defenders of the smooth global industrial chains,are actively promoting the integration of the industrial chains between the two countries.With regard to the present Sino-Thai industrial chain integration,emerging industries such as electric vehicles and the digital economy demonstrate the most prominent performance and the electronic manufacturing industry remains active while there are ups and downs in traditional industries like textiles and clothing.The chain integration relies on China's direct in-vestment in Thailand,complements the integration of innovation and capital chains,and has a high degree of integration into the industrial chain in East Asia.The complementary industrial structures and comparative advantages between China and Thailand and their unique advantages in the development of electric vehicles and digital economy are the important cornerstones of their in-dustrial chain integration.Continuous intensification of technology and industry competition between big powers,and the trends toward a green,digital and regional economy around the world are the main motivations.The future opportunities of China-Thailand industrial chain integration mainly lie in the greater support to the industrial development and cooperation from both governments.The Sino-Thai relations will remain relatively stable and friendly in a foreseeable period of time,which will create a harmonious and favorable diplomatic environment and political guarantee for industrial integration.However,geopolitical risks still exist,and the interference or influence of other countries such as Japan are the main challenge in the future.In this regard,the China-Thailand industrial chain integration can be promoted by enhancing mutual political trust continuously,strengthening conceptual coordination and practical cooperation on industrial chain security,removing trade and investment barriers between the two countries more effectively,promoting the third-party market cooperation to alleviate industrial competitionand further im-proving and making good use of regional economic cooperation platforms.
