Advancement,Challenges,and Strategic Enhancement in Constructing the China-Thailand Community With a Shared Future
On the 10th anniversary of the China-Thailand comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in 2022,China and Thailand announced to promote the building of a more stable,prosperous and sustainable community of shared future be-tween the two countries.Since both reached an agreement to bolster strategic cooperation in 2001,their bilateral ties have un-folded in three distinct stages:initial consensus on strategic collaboration,the establishment of a comprehensive strategic coopera-tive partnership,and the aspiration towards a community with a shared future.Over the past decade,the strategic collaboration be-tween China and Thailand across various sectors has thrived,particularly in joint initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiatives,fos-tering tangible progress and delivering substantial benefits to both nations'populations.This stands as a good example of good-neighborliness and mutual benefit.The two nations have deepened policy coordination,bolstered strategic trust,enhanced infra-structure connectivity,facilitated trade and investment,fortified financial cooperation,promoted people-to-people exchanges,and elevated cultural ties,thus propelling China-Thailand comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new level and laying a solid groundwork for the China-Thailand community with a shared future.In the future,the two countries will intensify efforts to construct the China-Thailand community with a shared future,maintaining a steady and positive momentum.However,they will also be confronted with internal and external challenges stemming from political,economic,and cultural constraints,which would impede the healthy and sustainable growth of Sino-Thai relations.In response,this paper suggests that in the new era,the construction of a China-Thailand community with a shared future should prioritize cooperation in sustainable development.Both nations must continue bolstering political trust,enhancing connectivity,accelerating trade and investment cooperation,optimizing cross-border financial services,and deepening cultural and tourism exchanges.These efforts aim to propel the advancement and refinement of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership,steering steadily towards the establishment of a China-Thailand community with a shared future to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two in 2025 for an el-evated standard of cooperation.
