Discovering Proxy:Progress,Motivation and Impact of"the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative"
Proxy strategy is categorized into warlike and non-warlike forms.As a policy tool for the United States to cope with the Game of Great Powers and counterbalance China's rise,the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative(YSEALI)is cur-rently transitioning into a non-warlikeproxy strategy.Adynamic analysis of its efforts to arm the minds,enhance capabilities and expand networks of young generations in Southeast Asia reveals that this youth diplomacy project has become a key policy tool for the United States to pivot to the Asia-Pacific region and advance the Indo-Pacific Strategy.Based on the path and evolution of the YSEALI,it is necessary to expedite youth exchanges between China and ASEAN countries and make it an important part of building a China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
