Understand the Modes of Rectangular Waveguide from Physical Concepts
Starting from the boundary conditions,the modes in a rectangular waveguide are discussed in this paper.The cutoff and propagation of the modes are explained according to the concepts of wave number and standing wave.The wave impedances of the modes are derived from the concept of directional impedance.Finally the dispersion properties of the modes are explained by the dispersion equation.In this paper,various characteristics of the modes are deduced by the physical concepts,which will help students to fully understand the modes in the waveguide.
