Suppression Method for Continuous Commutation Failure in DC Transmission Based on the Maximum Trigger Angle Restriction at the Rectifier Side
The first commutation failure of direct current transmission is generally difficult to be avoided, but certain measures can be taken to suppress continuous commutation failure.Based on the DC control system and equivalent circuit,a formula was proposed for calculating the maximum triggering angle of the converter at the rectifier side. After a fault occured in the AC system at the inverter side, the maximum triggering angle of the converter at the rectifier side can be restricted in a timely manner according to the calculation results, which can suppress the continuous commutation failure of DC transmission.A CIGRE HVDC standard test model was built in PSCAD/EMTDC for simulation testing, and the test results verified the effectiveness of the proposed method, with appropriately increased degree of limitation and the successful rate of suppression.
