Correlation of Peroxiredoxin 1 protein with hydronephrosis development
AIM: To investigate the role of Peroxiredoxin 1 ( Prx1) protein during the development of hydronephrosis caused by 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD ) in mice fetus. METHODS: Animal model of hydronephrosis was induced in mice fetus by TCDD. Kidneys and ureters of mice fetus were observed on histological and ultrastructural levels. The expressions of Prx1 protein in kidneys and ureters of mice fetus were detected with Western blot and immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: Animal model of hydronephrosis was induced in mice fetus successfully. Proliferative epithelium mucosa of ureters and narrow lumina was found in mice fetus with hydronephrosis. Western blot displayed that the expression of Prx1 protein in kidneys and ureters increased significantly in treatment group compared with that in control group. Results of immunohistochemistry displayed that the expression of Prx1 protein in epithelium mucosa of ureters was positive in treatment group but negative in control group. CONCLUSION: Strong expression of Prx1 protein in epithelium mucosae of ureters in mice fetus caused by TCDD may be related to hydronephrosis.
