Therapeutic effect of acupoint application with Mastard Cough Plaster on acute bronchitis in children
AIM: To compare the therapeutic effect of acupoint application with Mastard Cough Plaster or Far-infrared Cough Plaster on acute bronchitis in children. METHODS: One hundred and twenty children with acute bronchitis were randomly divided into 2 groups, with 60 in each group. Patients in experimental group were treated by acupoint application with Mastard Cough Plaster while those in control group were treated by acupoint application with Far-infrared Cough Plaster. The acupoints site, methods and treatment course were identical in the two groups. The data were analyzed with SPSS10. 0. RESULTS: Remarkable efficiency rate in the experimental group was better than that in the control group ( P < 0. 05 ) , but no significant difference was seen in the total efficiency rate between the 2 groups. The effect on cough, sputum and rales were better in experimental group than that in control group. Cough and rales were less severe in experimental group than in control group ( P < 0.05). No significant difference was observed in the relief of sputum ( P > 0. 05 ). CONCLUSION: Acupoint application with Mastard Cough Plaster is effective in the treatment of acute bronchitis in children.
