Effects of artopine on prognosis of patients with acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning: 208 cases report
AIM: To study the effects of artopine on the prognosis of 208 patients with acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning ( AOPP). METHODS: The acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning patients, admitted from January 2005 to December 2007 , were retrospectively analyzed. The 208 patients were divided into two groups according to the periods of reaching artopinization. Group Ⅰ reached artopinization within 3 hours (n= 103) and group Ⅱ reached atropinization beyond 3 hours ( n = 105). Complications and mortality between the two groups were compared. RESULTS: The complications and mortality in group Ⅰ were lower than those in group Ⅱ. CONCLUSION: The time of artopinization is associated with the prognosis of AOPP. The earlier the artopinization, the better the prognosis and the lower the mortality rate.
