Investigation of the section techniques of bone cement composite materials
AIM: To investigate the section techniques of specimens using bone cement composite materials. METHODS: The specimens of cement composite materials, taken out from patient's body, were sawed or ground into small pieces sized 1-8 cm3. These specimen pieces were immediately fixed in the solution BSSF to be demineralized, dehydrated, embedded with paraffin, sectioned, HE stained and finally microchecked. RESULTS: The specimens were successfully sectioned using this technique. After He-staining and trichrome-staining, the bone tissues and newly formed bone tissues the section could be satisfactorily viewed. CONCLUSION: Our method is simple with reliable results , which can basically meet the requirements of experiments in orthopedics.
