Effect of Chrysanthemum Vine Capsule on lipids and high density lipoprotein receptor liver gene expression in rats
AIM: To study the effect of Chrysanthemum Vine Capsule on blood fat of rats with hyperlipemia and on high density lipoprotein receptor liver gene expression. METHODS: Sixty SD rats were divided randomly into six groups: group A (normal group) , group B ( model group), group C ( Xue Zhi Kang group), group D (low-dosage Chrysanthemum Vine Capsule group) , group E ( midium-dosage Chrysanthemum Vine Capsule group), and group F (high-dosage Chrysanthemum Vine Capsule group), with 10 rats in each group. Croup A was fed on normal forage, but other groups were fed on high fat forage. All the groups were allowed to drink water freely. Group A was fed on normal forage without intragastric administration, group B was given physiological saline 10 mL/(kg · d) with intragastric administration, group C was given Xue Zhi Kang Capsule 0.09 g/ (kg · d) with intragastric administration, and group D, E and F received Chrysanthemum Vine Capsule 1.175, 2.350, 4.700 g/ (kg · d) respectively with intragastric administration for six weeks. The levels of TC, TG HDL-C and LDL-C in the blood serum were examined and the changes of SR-BI gene expression in rat' s liver were analyzed by RT-PCR and Western blot. RESULTS: Chrysanthemum Vine Capsule markedly decreased the levels of TC, TG and LDC-C in the blood serum, raised the level of HDL, and enhanced SR-BI gene expression in rats' liver. Remarkable effect of Chrysanthemum Vine Capsule was observed on hyperlipidemia. CONCLUSION: Chrysanthemum Vine Capsule is effective in treating hyperlipidemia possibly by enhancing SR-BI gene expression in rats' liver.
