Effects of Eupolyphaga Sinensis Walker on rats of type 2 diabetes
AIM: To study the effect of Eupolyphaga Sinenisis Walker(ESW) on blood sugar and blood fat levels in rat model of type 2 diabetes. METHODS: Type 2 diabetes model was induced by ip high fat fodder(10 mL/kg, 10 days) and a little volume of STZ ( 30 mg/kg). The animals were divided into 4 groups: Normal control, model, Metformin positive control and ESW group, with 10 in each group. The blood sugar level was determined once a week for 4 weeks. In the 4 th week, the organ indices were also determined. RESULTS: The diabetes models were established. In ESW group, the levels of blood level obviously reduced, blood fat TC, TG and LDL-C levels dropped, and the HDL-C levels elevated, compared with those in model group. ESW corrected the spleen quality reduction but failed to correct the thymus atrophy in type 2 diabetes rate. CONCLUSION: ESW reduces the levels of blood sugar, plasma TC, TG and LDL-C, inhibits the level of serum ACA and increases the level of HDL-C in type 2 diabetes rat models.
