Study on differential efficacy of ser um chromatography of Carthamus tinctoriu L
AIM: To investigate the effective constituents of Carthamus tinctoriu L in rats using differential efficacy of serum chromatography. METHODS: High-performance liquid chroma-togmphy(HPLC) fingerprint was employed to compare the peaks of Carthamus tinctoriu L extract, blank serum, drug-containing serum at maximum efficacy time and drug-containing serum at minimum efficacy time. The chemical componential foundation of Carthamus tinctoriu L efficacy in blood stasis rats was determined. RESULTS: Twenty-eight compounds were detected after intragas-tric administration of Carthamus tinctoriu L extract, 20 of which were the original compounds containing in Carthamus tinctoriu L extract and 8 were metabolites. CONCLUSION: The 28 compounds under study are the possible effective constituents and further study may add to our understanding of the pharmacology and active mechanism of Carthamus tinctoriu L.
