Suppression of airway inflammation in a mouse model of asthma by Der p2 recombined BCG
AIM: To observe whether Der p2 rBCG suppress ES the airway inflammation in a mouse model of asthma. METHODS: Four groups of mice were vaccinated with PS,BCG or rBCG and were sensitized and challenged with Der p2. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and lung tissue were then obtained. The infiltration of inflammatory cells, goblet cell proliferation and mast cell degranulation were observed. RESULTS: Airway inflammation was downregu-lated by Der p2 rBCG in a mouse model of asthma. The infiltration of inflammatory cells in lung tissue was downregulated by Der p2 rBCG. The production of mucus and the number of goblet cells was decreased by Der p2 rBCG. Mast cell mediator release was reduced by Der p2 rBCG. CONCLUSION: Der p2 rBCG may be an efficient immunotherapy for asthma.
