Effect of transient hypertension induced by administration of adrenaline on expression of IL-1β and TH in rat carotid body
AIM: To investigate the effect of repeated transient hypertension on the expressions of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and tyrosine hydroxylase (TH ) in the carotid body. METHODS: Eight adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were used and they were divided into 2 groups (adrenaline group and control group) .To produce transient hypertension, the rats in the adrenaline group were subjected to an injection of adrenaline(AD) via vena cauda-lis,once a day for a week. The expressions of IL-1β and TH in the rat carotid body were examined by using immunohistochemistry and image analysis. RESULTS: The expressions of IL-1β and TH in the carotid body in the model group were evidently up-regulated compared with that in the control group( P < 0. 05). CONCLUSION: Repeated transient hypertension increases the expressions of IL-1β and TH in the carotid body, which might be related to the increased AD-induced chemoreceptive sensitivity.
