Significance of HLA-DR expression in serous epithelial ovarian carcinoma combined with serum CA125 in evaluating ovarian carcinoma malignancy behavior
AIM: To evaluate the malignancy behavior of serous epithelial ovarian carcinoma with HLA-DR expression and serum CA125. METHODS: Forty cases of serous ovarian carcinoma, twelve cases of serous ovarian cystadenoma and ten cases of normal ovarian tissues were collected, and the level of pre-operational serum CA125 in ovarian carcinoma patients was also collected. HLA-DR was detected with immunohistochemistry in all cases. RESULTS: The positive rate of HLA-DR was 50. 0% in serous ovarian carcinoma tissues, obviously higher than that in both benign epithelial ovarian tumor and normal ovarian tissues. Significant difference was found in the positive rate of HLA-DR between early and late stages. The positive rate of HLA-DR was obviously higher in high differentiated group than that in medium and low differentiated group. HLA-DR expression had negative correlation with the pre-operational serum CA125 level. CONCLUSION: The expression of HLA-DR and high level of pre-operation serum CA125 can be markers to evaluate ovarian carcinoma malignancy behavior.
