Analyses of concomitant diseases in patients with diastolic heart failure
AIM:To probe into the association between diastolic heart failure ( DHF) and essential hypertension, diabetes and coronary heart disease. METHODS:DHF patients and the systolic heart failure(SHF) patients were selected by questionnaires, medical checkup and ultrasonocardiograph, and they were divided into DHF group,SHF group and normal ( NL) group. The rates of concomitant diseases of essential hypertension, diabetes and coronary heart disease were analyzed. RESULTS: The rates of hypertension, coronary heart disease and diabetes were 55.8%,37.7% and 16.3%,respectively in DHF group (239),71. 6%,61.7% and 18.5% respectively in SHF group(81),and 45.2%,21.2% and 10. 4% respectively in NL group (250). The incidence of hypertension and coronary heart disease significantly increased compared with that in NL group (P<0.05). Significant difference in the incidence of coronary heart disease was found between SHE group and DHF group ( P < 0. 05 ). CONCLUSION: Essential hypertension is the main cause in the development of DHF,followed by coronary heart disease. Diabetes may also contribute to the development of DHF.
