Inhibitory effect of cytotoxin from Agkitrodon Acutus venom on gastric cancer
AIM: To purify cytotoxin from Agkitrodon Acutus venom and to study its inhibitory effect on gastric cancer in rats. METHODS: Cytotoxin H1 was isolated and purified by successive chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex A-50 and TSKgel Pheny columns from Agkitrodon acutus venom. To establish the gastric cancer model, the rats were fed with water added N-Methyl-N'-Nitro-Nitrosoguanidine,Tween 20 and Vitamin D3 and were stimulated with hypertonicsaline. The established models were randomly divided into negative control group,5-FU positive control group and treatment group of Cytotoxin H1 and were treated with continuous injection for 3 weeks. RESULTS: In situ tumor volume and tumor weight in treatment group was significantly lower than those in 5-FU group(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Cytotoxic H1 inhibits gastric cancer growth and metastasis in rats.
