Bone defect of open fracture in lower limb treated with new-type anti-infective active bone
AIM: To investigate the outcome of a new-type anti-infeclive active bone ( NAAB) in the treatment of bone defect of open fracture in lower limb diaphysis. METHODS: Twenty-one cases of bone defect of open fracture of lower limb diaphysis were treated with NAAB in the first intention after debridement and adequate fixation. RESULTS: The followed-up(ranging from 10 to 54 months, averaging 21.4 ±5.1 months) found no recurrence of infection. One case had bone nonunion, one case had delayed bone union and the other 19 cases all had complete bone union. CONCLUSION: It is safe and effective to treat the bone defect of open fracture of lower limb diaphysis in the first intention with NAAB.
