Relationship of different diopter of myopic eyes and gender with central corneal thickness.corneal curvature and intraocular pressure
AIM: To investigate the relationship of different diopter of myopic eyes and gender with central corneal thickness (CCT),eorneal curvature (k1 and k2) and intraocular pressure (IOP). METHODS: CCT,k1,k2 and IOP of 1108 patients (2189 eyes) were measured and the data were divided respectively into 3 groups according to different diopter and into 2 groups according to different gender. RESULTS: Significant difference was observed between low myopy group [ (541 ±36)μm],medium myopy group[ (535 ±32)μm] and high myopy group[ (535 ±40) μm] in CCT(P<0.05). The value of k1[(43.1 ±1.5)D] and k2[(44.4±1.6)D] of high myopy were significant higher than those of medium myopy group and low myopy group (P < 0. 05). the IOP of low myopy[ ( 16. 5±3.1) mmHg] was significantly higher than that of high myopy group[ (16. 0 ±3.0) mmHg,P < 0.05 ]. The CCT value of male [ (539 ± 37) μm ] was significantly higher than that of female[ (534 ±32)μm] but k1[ (42.7 ± 1.5) D] and k2[(43. 8 ± 1.6)D] of males were lower than those of female[kl(43.3±1.4)D,k2(44.5 ±1.5)D] respectively(P < 0.05). No significant difference was seen in IOP between genders. CONCLUSION: There exists difference in CCT,k1,k2 and IOP between different diopter myopic eyes or genders.
