Investigation on mental health and survival ability of recruits
AIM: To investigate the mental health status of the recrutis in a certan troop and the relationship between the mental health status and the survival ability of the recrutis. METHODS: Totally 325 recrutis in a certain troop were examined with SCL-90 (Symptom Checklist 90) in January 2007. RESULTS: The score of each factor in SCL-90 was found significantly lower in the recrutis compared with the norm of Chinese population (average age from 18 to 29),the norm of Chinese soldiers and the norm of recrutis in China( P < 0. 05 ) . The survival ability of the recruits were affected by their educational levels,only-child or not,income levels of their parents,and the training achievement of the recruits (all P <0. 05). CONCLUSION: The overall mental health status of the recruits is good. The total survival ability of recruits taking psychology examinations is better than those who did not take in previous years.
