Relation of metastasis and necrosis of rabbit hepatic VX2 tumor after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization of different dose of iodized oil
AIM: To evaluate the relation of metastasis and neeresis of rabbit hepatic VX2 tumor after transeatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) of different dose of iodized oil. METHODS:Forty-eight rabbits with implanted hepatic VX2 tumor were randomly divided into control group, routine dose iodized oil TACE group and high dose iodized oil TACE group. 0.9% saline,5 mg adriamyein combine routine dose iodized oil and 5 mg adriamy-cin combine high dose iodized oil were perfused respectively via hepatic artery in different groups. The amounts of iodized oil of routine dose iodized oil TACE group and high dose iodized oil TACE group were 0.5 and 1 time of tumor volume respectively. The necrosis area, intrahepatic and lung metastasis of tumor were examined after 2 weeks of TACE procedure. RESULTS: There was more necrosis areas of the high dose iodized oil TACE group compared with the control group and the routine dose iodized oil TACE group (P<0.05) ; In the high dose iodized oil TACE group,there were less intrahepatic and lune metastasis compared with the routine dose iodized oil TACE group (P<0.05) ; Necrosis grades of tumor was negative correlated to the tumor metastasis. CONCLUSION:High dose iodized oil can induce more necrosis and inhibit intrahepatie and lung metastasis of transplanted VX2 liver tumor after TACE.
