A correlation analysis of risk factors of coronary heart disease in loess plateau area of Longzhong
AIM: To analyze the risky factors of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) in the loess plateau of Longzhong (the central part of Gansu Province) for primary and secondary prevention of CHD in this region. METHODS: Totally 404 patients were reviewed and examined on the potential risk factors in the coronary angiograph. RESULTS: Coronary angiography showed coronary artery lesions in 303 patients (lesion group) and no lesion in 101 patients (non-lesion group). Significant difference between the 2 groups was observed in age, gender, income, hyper-tension, diabetes mellitus, drinking and smoking history, work and life pressure, triglyceride (TG) and lower-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) (P<0.05-0.01). Significant difference was observed between the extent of coronary artery lesions and age, income, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, drinking and smoking history, work and life pressure, and LDL-C(P<0.05-0.01). No significant difference was found in total cholesterol, HDL-C and TG(P>0.05). Odds ratio (OR) of logistic regression analysis showed that CHD was significantly correlated in a descending order to diabetes mellitus, smoking, hypertension, dyslipidosis, drinking, work and life pressure, age, income, and gender. CONCLUSION: Diabetes mellitus, smoking, hypertension, drinking, work and life pressure, age, gender, income and LDL-C are all risk factors of CHD, among which diabetes mellitus is the major risk factor for CHD in the loess plateau of Longzhong.
