Cementless bipolar hemiarthroplasty for displaced femoral neck fractures in the elderly
AIM: To analyze whether cementless bipolar hemiarthroplasty is the better method for displaced femoral neck fractures in the elderly. METHODS: From 2002 to 2005, we cured 96 patients of displaced femoral neck fractures who had a mean age of 77 years, 96 hip, by cementless bipolar hemiarthroplasty. RESULTS: The mean follow-up was 3 years and Harris hip scores averaged 82. Two cases with loose femoral stems were revised and the rest of the plant were stable and had the evidence of bone ingrowth. Because of the groin pain 6 patients were revised THA. CONCLUSION: Cementless bipolar hemiarthroplasty is the safe method for displaced femoral neck fractures in the elderly.
