Effects of xinfukang oral liquid on mitochondrial transmembrane potential and myocardial energy metabolism in experimental congestive heart failure rats
AIM: To test the effect of Xin Fu Rang Oral Liquid on Mitochondrial transmembrane potential (MMP) and levels of energy-rich phosphate concentrations on pressure overload-induced left ventricular hypertrophy in rats. METHODS: 120 SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: Sham operation group (SH), Coarctation of abdominal aorta model group (CAA) and Xinfufang Oral Liquid cure group (XFK) (n = 40 each). The levels of Energy-rich phosphate measured respectively by HPLC after six and eight weeks. The mitochondrial transmembrane potential was detected by flow cytometry. RESULTS: ①The study shows that CAA group, ATP, ADP decreased, AMP increased (P < 0.01). In the XFK group the content of ATP, ADP, AMP, TAN obviously increased compared with CAA and by the 6th and 8th week (P < 0.01), and it is more obvious by the time of the 8th week. The content of ATP, ADP, AMP, TAN of XFK group at 8th week was better than that at 6th week (P < 0.05). ②The study shows that CAA group MMP significantly decreased compared with SH and by the 6th and 8th week (P < 0.01), XFK group MMP obviously increased compared with SH and by the 6th and 8th week (P < 0.01). The MMP of the 8th week in SH, CAA, XFK group have no obviously difference compared with that of the 6th week (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Xin Fu Kang Oral Liquid can obviously enhance the Mitochondrial transmembrane potential and improve Myocardial energy metabolism.
