mRNA expression of TPX2 and its reference with clinical pathology in esophageal cancer
AIM: To explore the expression in esophageal squamous cell cancer (ESCC) and approach relationship between the TPX2 and clinicopathological characteristic of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. METHODS: The expression of TPX2 in 62 specimens of ESCC, paracancer esophageal, epithelia and distant normal esophageal epithelia was detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The correlations of TPX2 expression to clinicopathologic features of the 62 ESCC patients were analyzed. RESULTS: The positive rate of TPX2 was significantly higher in ESCC than in paracancer esophageal epithelia (65.5% vs 35.5%); The expression of TPX2 was correlated with the histological grade, infiltrative depth and lymphatic metastasis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. There was a significant statistic difference among the groups (P < 0.01). The expression of TPX2 had no correlations to grade, sex, and age. CONCLUSION: The expression of TPX2 might be related to the infiltrative depth and lymphatic metastasis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
