Effect of modified yupingfeng granule in treating chronic urticaria and its influence on expression of TNF-α
AIM: To investigate the therapeutical effect of modified yupingfeng granule on chronic urticaria and its influence on expression of TNF-α. METHODS: Fifty-five cases of chronic urticaria were randomly divided into 2 groups, the control group were treated orally with levocetirizine hydrochloride 5 mg once a day, the trial group were given modified yupingfeng granule. The effective rate, recurrence rate, responsive time were observed after one therapeutic course of 28 d, then the expressions of TNF-α in peripheral blood were detected by ELISA. RESULTS: The responsive time of modified yupingfeng granule group [(2.65 ± 0.93) d]was longer than the control group[(1.84 ± 0.90) d, P< 0.05], and the total effective rate was no significant difference between the two groups (90% and 96%). But the recurrence rate of the the modified yupingfeng granule group (33.3%) was decreased significantly compared with the control group(64.0%, P < 0.05). The expression of TNF-α in 2 groups was significantly inhibited, but there was no significant difference between the 2 groups. CONCLUSION: Modified yupingfeng granule can effectively treat chronic urticaria, the recurrence rate was lower than it in the levocetirizine hydrochloride group. And Modified yupingfeng granule can down-regulate the expression of TNF-α.
