Expression and clinical significance of HER-2 in gastric cancer and metastastic lymph nodes
AIM:To investigate the expression of HER-2 in gastric cancer,Para-Cancerous Tissue and metastastic lymph nodes, explore its role and significance of the clinicopathology as well as prognosis, its correlation with lymph node metastasis and primary focus.METHODS:To examine expression of HER-2 on tissue microarray containing gastric normal mucosa(n=32),Para-Cancerous Tissue(n=54),metastastic lymph nodes(n=41),and gastric cancer(n=189)by immunohistochemistry.RESULTS:The positive rates for HER-2 of the gastric cancer paracancer and control were 68.8%.25.9%and 12.5%respectively,with significant difference among the three case groups(P<0.05).In gastric cancer tissues,The positive rates of HER-2 protein were significantly associated with lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion,Lauren type, the degree of differentiation(P<0.05),and not associated with sex, age, size of tumor(P>0.05).The positive rates for HER-2 of the 41 gastric cancer and 41 metastastic lymph nodes were significantly different(P<0.05).In metastastic lymph nodes,The positive rates for HER-2 is higher.Used Kaplan-Meier survival analysis,The survival time of patients with negative HER-2 was higher than those of patients with positive HER-2(P<0.05),COX regression analys is showed that HER-2 expression was an independent prognostic factor of gastric cancer.CONCLUSION:The higher-expression of HER-2 is involved in occurring and development, invasion, metastasis of gastric cancer and a advanced incidents of gastric cancer.metastastic lymph nodes is heterogeneity that compared with primary tumors.HER-2 is a useful marker for predicting the outcome for patients with gastric cancer, and it is all independent prognostic indicator.
