Protective effect of Ethyl ferulate on pulmonary fibrosis induced by bleomycin in rats
AIM:To observe protective effect of Ethyl ferulate (EF)on bleomycin induced pulmonary fibrosis of rats.METHODS:All rats were randomly divided into control group, model group and three EF groups.Various doses of EF were ig given to 36 rats for 1 or 2 weeks respectively. On week 1 and 2,the rats were killed and lungs were harvested. The lungs were homogenized for biochemical assays of SOD activity MDA,GSH and TNF-α contents. The lung tissue of rats was subjected to histopathological studies.RESULTS:Compared to model group, pulmonary fibrosis was alleviated in each EF group significantly;on 1 and 2 weeks,SOD activity,GSH content of homogenized lungs in each treated group were increased than that of model group.MDA.TNF-α contents of homogenized lungs in each group were decreased than that of model group. It also has a doseresponse relationship.CONCLUSION:Ethyl ferulate has obvious protective effect for the pulmonary fibrosis induced by bleomycin in rats.
