Clinical significant of the TNF-α and MMP-9 concentration in elderly patients with CHF
AIM:To investigate the clinical significant of Tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9)concentration in elderly patients with chronic heart failure(CHF).METHODS:100 patients with CHF and 50 healthy controls were examined by echocardiography, and their TNF-α and MMP-9 concentration were detected by ELISA.RESULTS:The plasma level of TNF-α and(MMP-9 of CHF group were higher than those of the control group, and increased with the severity of heart failure. The level of TNF-α and MMP-9 were positively correlated with the left ventricular and diastolic diameter (LVEDD),and negatively correlated with the left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)and left ventricular fraction shorter (LVFS).TNF-α levels were positively related to MMP-9 levels (all P<0.01).CONCLUSION:Plasma levels of TNF-α are consistent with the increased level of MMP-9 in elderly patients with CHF.It suggest that TNF-α and MMP-9 play an important role in the development of heart failure. The measurement of TNFα and MMP-9 will be helpful for the diagnosis prognosticate and predict the development of CHF.
