Correlation between adiponectin and myocardial fibrosis, vascular endothelial function in hypertensives
AIM:To investigate the correlation between adiponectin and myocardial fibrosis, vascular endothelial function and evaluate function and mechanism of adiponectin on myocardial fbrosis in hypertension.METHODS:Serum adiponectin, plasma endothelin-1(ET-1),procollagen type Ⅰ(PC I),procollagen type Ⅲ(PC Ⅲ),serum nitric oxide(NO)and flow-mediated dilation(FMD)were measured in eighty newly diagnosed hypertensives(hypertensive group)and eighty healthy persons(control group).RESULTS:PC Ⅰ,PC Ⅲ,plasma ET-1 and systolic pressure were significantly higher than in control group(P<0.05),while serum adiponectin,NO and FMD were significantly lower than in control group(P<0.05).Serum adiponectin levels were positively correlated with FMD(r=0.483)and NO(r=0.417),while negatively correlated with PC Ⅲ(r=0.601),PC Ⅰ(r=0.552),ET-1(r=0.429)and systolic pressure(r=0.321).CONCLUSION:Adiponectin may improve vascular endothelial function and inhibit myocardial fibrosis in hypertension via increasing NO and reducing ET-1.
