Reducing oversize-chin by partly mandibular outer plate osteotomy
AIM:To explore effective range and security of partly mandibular outer plate osteotomy for oversize-chin.METHODS:Through the point of below the back edge of mandibular second molar to 0.8 cm,a vertical line down to the lower edge of jaw was drew and a line parallel to occlusal plane was drew to the back edge of the mandibular ramus simultaneously.The full-thickness outer plate between two lines and between the vertical osteotomy line 0.5 am and the mental foramen were cut-off.Then the osteotomy edge were grinded.RESULTS:All patients,mandible were significantly reduced after surgery.The average width narrowed for 1.0 cm,while the normal mandibular angle remains unchanged and achieved a more satisfactory result for beauty.CONCLUSION:The partly mandibular outer plate osteotomy is safe and effective to the broad chin patient whose mandibular angle is normal and is worth promoting.
